Iced Coffee Recipe

The recipe I am trying today is from The Pioneer Woman (http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/06/perfect-iced-coffee/comment-page-7/#comments)

It is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend the Coffee Mate Peppermint Mocha Creamer. For real I love it so so much. But I do like a little extra peppermint so I add a little peppermint extract to it.

Ingredients:
  • (2) Containers
  • (1/4 cup) Coffee
  • (1qt) Water
  • Strainer
  • Paper towels
  • Spoon

Instructions:
  • Get the container ready and open up your coffee and pour into container.
  • Pour cold water into container.
  • Mix together till all the coffee is wet.
  • Cover container and let sit for eight hours or longer (I did twelve cause I like my coffee pretty strong)
  • Grab the second container and place strainer over it and place paper towels over the strainer.
  • Pour the steeped coffee through the strainer into the second container.
  • Use the spoon to press down the coffee grounds to make sure you get all the liquid from the coffee.
  • Place the stained coffee in the fridge till cold.
  • When ready to serve place ice in glass till the glass is almost full, fill glass halfway with coffee and the rest with milk and sugar till it is how you like it.
Here is some pictures from it. Make sure you mix it well. It was delicious!!! Thanks Pioneer Woman!!!

Enjoy your coffee creations!

DSLR Camera Tutorial (The Buttons)

I've decided to do one of these a week and to give out homework both for me and for you my lovely readers to do over the week. Then you guys can learn how to do it and go out in the field to learn it. It is the way I learn how to use all my cameras.

DSLR cameras are really fun but with all that fun stuff there are a lot of buttons and menus and even if you read through the manual it's just hard to figure out. That's why you should not only read but actually go out and use what you learn. That's why with these tutorials I'm giving all of you and me homework to do to test out our new skills. I just went to my camera manual and went through and listed all the buttons so they are in no real order of importance.

Mode dial:
The mode dial is where you will change the shooting mode of the camera. There is (We will discuss them in more detail later on.):
  • Auto (with and without flash) for simple point and shoot photography
  • P, S, A and M (Programmed auto, Shutter-priority auto, Aperture-priority auto, and Manual) with these modes you have full control over camera settings.
  • Special Effects (Night vision, Color sketch, Miniature effect, Selective color, Silhouette, High key and Low key) Each of these gives different looks to the pictures.
  • Primary Scenes (Portrait, Landscape, Child, Sports, Close up) These will have their own place on your mode dial
  • Scene (other scenes)
Live view switch:
This is a switch on the camera that brings you from the menu of the camera telling you all the information about what you are about to shoot to the live shot that you would see from your viewfinder.

Information button:
When you press the information button the information display page shows up and can be edited. It tells you the shooting mode, aperture, shutter speed, flash, ISO, battery, and much more. This can seem very daunting but as we do more and more lessons it will all make sense what your camera is trying to tell you.

Movie-record button:
This is just a red button on your camera that begins to record a movie. You can use it no matter what mode you are in.

Exposure button:
Along with hitting the information button there is a button to change the exposure.

Aperture button:
Along with hitting the information button there is a button to change the aperture.

Shutter-release button:
This is the button you press to take a photo. Press it halfway and it focus automatically. Then press the rest of the way to take the picture.

Self-timer button:
Along with hitting the information button there is a button to make it go into self timer mode.

Menu button:
The menu button sends you to the menu where you can change some settings and do in camera editing of photos.

AE-L/AF-L button:
This locks the exposure unless you are in Auto, P, S, or A mode.

Command dial:
This dial lets you scroll through your camera either modes when on Scene, or adjust shutter speed and aperture when in modes P, S, A and M.

Playback button:
This sends you to the photographs you have already taken.

HOMEWORK:
Explore your camera and take lots of pictures. Try using all the modes and just figuring out what the buttons do. For my homework I'll make a post for it and you can comment your pictures too =D

Life

So on Monday in my Health class we had to take this quiz that told us how stressed we are. If you got over 300 points then you were in serious risk of developing a health problem because you are so stressed. Well guess what... I got 309. I stress a lot over everything. Life, school, the future. Really I feel like I'm always scared of the next day cause I don't know what will happen. I started this blog to cut down on stress. It lets me write my feelings, makes me do some art, and gets me excited about something which are all ways to relieve stress. But I don't really know if anyone reads this and I don't know why that matters to me but for some reason it does so I started getting sad that all the hard work I do to put together diy tutorials or the photo tutorials or my recipe plans (side note: I have a month worth of blogs planned out for the weekly planned things, yeah I'm Type A) goes for nothing cause it won't benefit anyone and I can just as easily do all this on my own. But I guess I really can't. Cause I have this small little voice saying you can't fail at this. You need this. I'm not sure if I really need this but it is nice.

Well that's my rant for the day. Please if you like what you see follow or comment or something. I'm feeling pretty lonely on this huge internet.

How to freshen Clothes Quick

This morning I got up and threw on some clothes but as I smelled the jacket I was wearing it didn't smell all pretty and I really want to smell pretty today for sure cause Evan get's back in town. So I came up with this fast tutorial to freshen up clothes.

Materials:
  • Fabric Softener
  • Spray Bottle
  • Piece of Clothing
  • Dryer (or hang to dry but that will take longer)

STEP ONE:

Get your spray bottle and fabric softener (I use dreamy desire by Gain it is the best smelling one I've had so far it really makes me happy =D ) and fill the spray bottle most of the way up. Add a very small amount of fabric softener (not even to the first line if you need a measurement).

Your solution with be cloudy white.

STEP TWO:

Lay out your clothing and spray it down till it is a little damp (do to both sides).

STEP THREE:

Place in dryer for a few minutes.

And there you have it clean smelling clothes.
